Blended Brunch

I am trying to wean myself off the bread that I have been having at lunch time for the past few weeks, but I needed to find another way of getting down an entire head of lettuce without eating a salad because my first time doing Furhman’s 6-Week Plan tired me of giant salads.  So this time I am going to do green smoothies sometimes, too.  Since this was my first attempt at a green smoothie using anything other than spinach, I just threw a whole bunch of everything in and figured I would adjust later if necessary.  After taking a taste, I could tell it needed more banana and strawberry, so I added a few more pieces.

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/2 cup apple juice
medium banana, frozen in 1″ chunks
12 frozen strawberries
2 tbsp frozen blueberries
1 pear, peeled and chopped
12 slices cucumber, peeled
1 head boston lettuce, living
2 tbsp hemp protien powder

Combine all in blender and blend until smooth.  Drink immediately.

This particular smoothie was pretty good, and it made a LOT.  You could taste the lettuce and cucumber, but only slightly.  I would try a similar combination again, but leave out the apple juice, pear, and blueberries.

  1. I love green smoothies, expecially with Hemp Protein powder – YAY! They’re great with lots of cinnamon put into them, too 🙂

    Cheers!

  2. Nice spelling, Kristen…sometimes I type too fast…..”especially”

  3. Cinnamon? Really? I will have to try that, thanks!
