Chickpea Kale Tomato Sauce

1 19 oz. can of crushed tomatoesChickpea Kale Tomato Sauce
1 can chickpeas, drained
bunch kale, chopped, tough stems discarded
1/2 cup to 1 cup water
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
dash salt and pepper

Put crushed tomatoes, garlic, and spices into saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Stir in chopped kale by the handful, and continue to simmer for another 5 minutes. Add chickpeas, and simmer, stirring constantly for at least 30 minutes. Serve over pasta or rice.
